“This too Shall Last” by KJ Ramsey is a fascinating book exploring a much ignored aspect of life, living with suffering. Her written style is poetic and flowing more noticeable given the topic. She explores our relationship to suffering, how it affects our relationship with others and the God of our belief.
She writes of the suffering Jesus experienced and how it speaks to us, inviting us into His world in a profound and humbling way. This connection obviates the deep sense of isolation that suffering can bring.
Whilst it is written through the lens of Christianity it reveals the world of suffering and how it can be, much like beauty, a portal to the soul.
I recommend it for all who have experienced or know others who experience pain of any kind, mental, emotional as well as physical. To embrace the spiritual path this is a helpful book opening us a much neglected or avoided facet."

”Farther Up and Farther In ( Book 2)
Part of the Celtic Daily Prayer series
A few weeks ago, I came across this book: the book's daily readings and reflections have been deeply moving and inspiring. One particular EATA Reading from August 17th emphasised that contemplative prayer is more about being than doing – it’s about simply being present rather than striving for outcomes. This insight, along with the reflections on Psalm 130:5-7, Isaiah 30:18, and Romans 15:13, created a rich tapestry of contemplation and hope that resonated deeply with me.
Moved by these reflections, I felt compelled to explore more of what the book has to offer. A few days later, I purchased a copy and have since found it to be a treasured addition to my daily routine. It has been guiding me towards a more mindful and hopeful perspective.
If you’re seeking spiritual nourishment and inspiration, I highly recommend diving into this remarkable book.

How to deepen your spiritual practice. This is a small yet deeply powerful and inspiring book in its easily understandable use of language. Touching the heart of prayer, what it is, how it feels and how to pray. It takes us beyond the formulaic prayers of though to dynamic engagement with the universal energy of all as experienced in the heart, the seat of spiritual awareness.
From the `what` of prayer to the experience and wonder of prayer concluding with gentle guidance and examples of praying in grace filled language and intention.
This is a small, graceful book rich in integrity as the authors own experience wrote every word. He brings life and awe to the simplest of daily tasks as he becomes prayer in every movement.
“The Mystic Heart” by Wayne Teasdale is a valuable exploration of spirituality as expressed by many religions and traditions.
Brother Wayne looks at their aims and understanding of their goals, he dives into the depths of their spiritual practices. Illuminating the mystics of each way and how they merge in practices behaviours and beyond. He offers us, the readers, a glimpse into worlds that may appear to differ yet unite in their core.
Brother Wayne sees “ Spirituality as awareness and sensitivity, and sensitivity is itself, awareness in action.” He visualises a world where humankind unites as one in a renaissance of the Sacred. It is a book well worth taking time over as it is so rich in content.

After listening to this book twice on audio, I was so deeply moved that I decided to buy a physical copy. There’s just so much wisdom in it—it deserves to be read slowly and reflectively. I now read one to two pages a day, allowing the insights to really settle.
One chapter that particularly struck me was on the resurrection. Marianne’s words about resurrection being not just a historical or theological event, but a deeply personal and ongoing inner journey, resonated deeply. The way she described resurrection as an awakening—emerging from the torment of facing our own internal demons into the light—was both powerful and healing. It reminded me that spiritual growth is not about bypassing pain, but about moving through it with grace and courage.
This book isn’t just one to read—it’s one to live with. I’m grateful for its depth and clarity, and I know I’ll return to it again and again. Cate
